The curriculum for the Clinical Informatics Fellowship is broken into three components: the part covered by the Masters’ programs, additional didactics taught by the Fellowship faculty and a practicum.
The Masters’ programs provide much of the didactic component required by the ABPM/ACGME (and defined by AMIA). The rest of the required education topics will be covered in didactic sessions. The third component of the fellowship is the practicum, and this will be performed at Madigan AMC and McChord Clinic.
There are two Masters’ programs offered: UW Masters’ in Clinical Informatics and Patient-Centered Technologies and OHSU Masters in Biomedical Informatics – Clinical Informatics. Most fellows take the UW CIPCT due to a very technically heavy, front-loaded schedule at OHSU (as well as increased cost). Except for residents of Oregon, the price differential generally means that Army GME will not pay for the OHSU Master’s Program.
The required curriculum for the fellowship has been mapped to each of the Masters’ programs to ensure all aspects of the CI Core Content is adequately addressed. Go to the OHSU or UW links in the menu above to get general information about the schools and link to the specific program of interest.
